Also, a black stencil stamp of numbers will be on inside and within that number will be a clue with three of the numbers. One at the very top on the back and one on inside bottom. To start there's at least two labels stuck somewhere on your set unless removed. Magnavox used the same style cabinets with different configuration of electronics inside. But I'll try to help and get this figured out as best I can.įirst off you need to identify what you actually have inside. That much alone just indicates set is from 1965. I think what you have found there is a little white label and probably reads 02-65. "I did some digging online and I am certain I matched the model # I think 62-65 but not certain yet." Since you say it powers up but you have no sound at all, I'll venture an educated guess that there is a supply voltage missing in there somewhere (do your tuning meters move when you're going up and down the dial?).probably an open resistor or something in the power supply to the audio amp section of the chassis (of course, if there is, there is a good chance that there's a short downstream somewhere that caused the resistor to open).you'll need to look at the chassis for a chassis number and see if you can find a schematic for it (don't go by the model number on the back of the console look for a separate number on the chassis itself).and try not to power it up again until you've replaced the electrolytic (filter) capacitors. I can't tell if that is tube or solid-state, but your problem is going to be in that tuner-amp chassis. These things generally have a pretty good sound to them when they are working because they usually have pretty beefy speaker systems.
